TEHRAN - Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Monday urged the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission to reconsider Tehran's ties with London.
Larijani's remarks in an open session of the parliament on Monday came in the wake of Britain's interference in Iran's domestic affairs and its efforts to deteriorate recent unrests following the 10th presidential election in Iran.
Meantime, parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission members today asked the Iranian Foreign Ministry to revise relations with Britain.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran favors expansion of relations with all countries, but will never accept interference of other states in its internal affairs," Rapporteur of the commission Kazzem Jalali said on Monday. The Iranian parliament speaker also yesterday warned foreign states against interference in Iran's domestic affairs.
Addressing an open session of the parliament in Tehran on Sunday, Larijani pointed to the pressures exerted by certain foreign states and European countries on the Iranian nation to shatter Iran's political independence, and said that the US President, Britain's Prime Minister, Germany's Chancellor and France's President stated their opinions about Iran's presidential election in a way that demonstrated other aspects of their adventurism about Iran.
Referring to the cruel and inhuman stand of the US against Iran and other countries over half a century, Larijani dismissed Washington's alleged worries about the post-election situation and human rights conditions in Iran.
"You showed the deceitful meaning of change too soon," he said while addressing the new US administration, President Barack Obama in particular. "We Iranians know the way to resolve our differences very well, there is no need to your opportunistic and imperialistic gestures," he added.
Meantime, the speaker warned that Iran would give its response to the aforementioned countries in other fields if they dare to continue their interference in Tehran's domestic affairs.
