IPI pipeline project important for the region | |||
(Hamsayeh.Net) - Pakistani official expresses concern over Iran, Pakistan, India (IPI) gas pipeline delays.
According to news reports, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources of Pakistan, Asim Hossein, importing of 750 million cubic feet of natural gas from Iran would enable Pakistani industries to potentially generate 4,600 MW of electricity for domestic consumption. Asim said he believes the project should be completed at the earliest in order to reduce the amount of damage done by unnecessary delays. He also suggests the creation of a media campaign for public awareness about the importance of IPI project. Elsewhere in his remarks, Asim made a comparison between the IPI and HSFO projects. According to him, based on the current market price of Brent, border price of IPI gas would be $8.05/Mmbtu, compare to the current price Pakistan is paying for the border price of HSFO at $11.94/Mmbtu.
