(Hamsayeh.Net) - Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary General, criticized Israeli regime for its illegal settlement activities in the occupied territories. He said the Israeli activities run contrary to international rules and regulations.

 'I urge the Israeli cabinet to commit itself fully to its obligations which would be to freeze building constructions in the area.' Ban Ki-moon said. He also said if Israeli regime continues settlement activities on Palestinian lands, it will have to face all the consequences based on strong international consensus.

There has been widespread criticism of Israeli regime for constructing buildings on Palestinian lands in recent days. The United States government strongly condemned Israeli activities when the  Israeli hard line Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced plans for expansion into eastern part of Beit-ol-Moghadas.

According to some plans envisioned by the U.S. President Barack Obama, East Bei-ol-Moghadas would be the future capital for a Palestinian state. This area was occupied by the Israeli military in 1967 and in 1980 where it passed a law declaring it would remain under Israeli control in a unilateral manner. Israeli sovereignty over East Jerusalem is however not recognized by the international community.
