Tehran, July 26 - Armed forces joint chief of staff Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said on Sunday that the US seeks to plunder regional countries of their wealth.

 

To get rid of economic meltdown, the US is to arm the countries of the region to find a suitable foothold in the region to plunder its wealth. Addressing a group of high ranking officers of the army, he said following the path of Valayat-e Faqih (governance of supreme jurisprudent) means treading the path of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

In reaction to the recent threat of US officials to arm Iran’s neighboring states, he said this is not a security and defense plan for Iran's Muslim neighbors. “We have declared time and again in the past that Iran does not regard its neighbors as its enemies,” he said.

Ties between Iran and its neighbors are very deep-rooted and peaceful but it is the Americans hit by severe economic crises that seek to plunder the regional countries of their wealth in order to find a way out of the economic crisis, he pointed out.

They try to promote Iranophobia to deceive high ranking officials of the regional countries but to no avail, he said.

It is the occupiers and their allies that brought enmity and war to the region and try to hatch new plots to attain their sinister goals, he said.

“Our message to the countries of the region is friendship and brotherhood,” said Firouzabadi.
