Iran's Supreme Leader stresses the Importance of the Persian Gulf Security | |||
Tehran, August 05, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iran's Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in a meeting with the King of Oman, Qaboos Bin Saeed, reiterated the importance of cooperation between the two brotherly nations to strengthen security in the Persian Gulf and pave the way for further unity among regional countries.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the security of this most strategic of waterways that lies between Iran and Oman as very important to the region and the world. Thus cooperation between Iran and Oman could prevent other interventionist foreign powers from their customary policies of creating chaos and insecurity in the region.
'...foreign powers, have constantly kept this sensitive region under a cloud of uncertainty and insecurity, never allowing calm to be established in the Persian Gulf region.' Ayatollah Khameni said.
Furthermore, the Supreme Leader referred to the brotherly relations between Tehran and Muscat. For his part, the King of Oman, welcomed the Supreme Leader's remarks about the importance of cooperation between the two for further strengthening the regional security for the benefit of all neighboring countries.
Iran and Oman have had historical relations since millenniums and the Persian Gulf's strategic waterway to the Indian Ocean passes through the Straight of Hormuz that stretches out between the two nations. Source: Agencies
