The sole responsibility for the serious disruption in Sino-US ties lie with the US.
March 14, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - China’s Prime Minister Wen Jiabao blamed the United States for deterioration of relationships between Beijing and Washington.
Speaking at a closing ceremony of the country’s annual parliament meeting, Wen Jiabao defended China’s current stance on the national currency the yuan. Washington has been calling on Beijing to elevate the value of its currency thus enabling US manufacturers sell more of their products in China. ‘We oppose the practice of mutual recriminations. External pressure is not helpful for yuan exchange rate reform,’ Wen told reporters and added the policy of a keeping a stable yuan helped the global economic recovery after the crash of 2008.
Western economies and financial centres are dead scared of China’s growing economic, political influence. For this simple reason they constantly seek to harness the Asian giant’s historic progress. According to Washington think tanks the only way to control the rapid progress is to cut off China from Middle Eastern energy resources. That could explain why US-led NATO forces are actively engaged in unending wars in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The pressure on Chinese currency is just one of many types of pressures on Beijing. Other forms of pressures currently being exerted against China include a new separate military contract between the United States and Taiwan - an island China considers as an integral part of it own territory. Also, Western media corporations blame Beijing for widespread Internet censorship and seek more access to freedom of information in China’s cyberspace.
China’s Prime Minister criticized Washington for recent hypes and said the sole responsibility for the serious disruption in Sino-US ties lie with the US. China is the world’s largest holder of US treasury bonds and therefore any sudden devaluation of dollar could directly reduce the value of its treasury bonds.
