March 20, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - The US President Barack Hussain Obama, sent out a Persian end of the year internet video message to Iran calling for a new chapter in relationship between the two countries, Al Jazeera reported.

 

The new video message comes at a time when the Obama administration pushes for more economic sanctions against Tehran.

 

The US President, without elaborating further on his dualistic philosophy which he often uses to resolve outstanding problems, asked the Iranian government to provide better internet access without filtering. Obama said the blame rests upon the Iranian government for isolating itself, and promised support to grassroots movements inside Iran. 

 

‘Even as we continue to have differences with the Iranian government, we will sustain our commitment to a more hopeful future for the Iranian people,’ Al Jazeera quoted Obama as saying.

 

US presidents have in the past few years, used the occasion of the Iranian New Year on the arrival of spring to address the Iranian people while their own administrations continually seek to militarily control the Middle Eastern oil and gas.

 

Following a similar pattern Obama uses the Iranian New Year to talk to the people of Iran since taking office. The US President’s main concern this year was the subject of freedom on the internet and access to modern software technologies for the younger generations of Iranians.

 

He said the US would to its outmost to ‘ensure that Iranians can have access to the software and Internet technology that will enable them to communicate with each other, and with the world, without fear of censorship’.
