This isn’t the first time that US officials claim there is a universal agreement over Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

 

April 01, 2020 (Hamsayeh.Net) - A United State official said six world powers agreed to discuss Iran’s nuclear program in the coming days. US envoy to the United Nations Susan Rice was confident that all the members of the group including China would be willing to seriously consider imposing sanctions on Iran.

 

‘China has agreed to sit down and begin serious negotiations here in New York with the others in the (group of six) ... as a first step toward getting the entire Security Council on board with a tough sanctions regime against Iran,’ Susan Rice told reporters.

 

This isn’t the first time that US officials claim there is a universal agreement over Iran’s peaceful nuclear program. Last month, top government officials were all too confident of a full economic blockade against Iran similar to those imposed on Germany prior to the Second World War or on Iraq during the reign of Saddam Hussein. But they gradually lowered their expectations by focusing on ineffective sanctions against certain individuals or companies.

 

‘This is progress, but the negotiations have yet to begin in earnest. We have shared our thoughts on what elements should be in a tough U.N. Security Council resolution. We're gratified that ... now we're going to get down to the nuts and bolts of negotiations. That's what's necessary,’ Rice said.

 

Famously called a ‘Paper Tiger’ by the late Chinese leader Mao Zedong, the United States officials normally concoct stories surrounding non-existent threats to diverts attentions from all the troubles caused by US’ own version of casino capitalism that depends on oil, at home and abroad. Claims of Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction were a point in case where oil-dependent US and its allies used the above strategy.

 

Washington hopes that it could once again deploy this same strategy against Iran, and for this reason alleges that Iran’s nuclear program poses a grave threat to the world.

 

Iran as an outstanding member of the NPT enjoys one of the most transparent nuclear programs in the world today. Tehran also says its domestic nuclear program is designed for electricity generation and scientific purposes, only.
