Today’s announcement should convince those who are always skeptical of Iran’s scientific capabilities.

 

April 07, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad brushed aside Obama’s new nuclear policy saying his ideas about the world in general are the same as the former US president George W. Bush.

 

‘We don't want Mr. Obama to suffer the same fate as Bush did. He must watch his behaviors and remarks,’ Ahmadinejad said at a large gathering in the city of Orumiyeh this morning.

 

The Iranian President reminded us that Obama came into power about a year ago chanting the slogan of change and that he didn’t want to repeat the mistakes committed by the former administration, while in reality his actions contradict earlier claims.

 

Also in Tehran today, the head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Agency gave another good nuclear news. Ali Akbar Salehi said Iran has already produced several kilograms of higher enriched uranium fuel to power the country’s sole medical reactor. Salehi didn’t say exactly how much of the fuel was produced, but the ability to fabricate the HEU is a great achievement by itself.

 

Many Western countries claimed that Iran couldn’t possibly produce even a small amount of HEU because of technical difficulties involved. Today’s announcement should convince those who are always skeptical of Iran’s scientific capabilities.

 

More nuclear news came from Moscow where the president of Russia’s nuclear fuel production facilities Yury Olenin told journalists that Russia would be ready to deliver Bushehr’s nuclear fuel a year after the launch of the reactor.

 

‘We are always in contact with our Iranian colleagues and agree on prices which change in line with world uranium prices and the cost of its enrichment,’ he said.  Also according to Olenin, Bushehr needs two fuel canisters a year with one shipment already delivered in 2007.

 

Russian Prime Minister Vladmir Putin said last month that Iran first reactor in Bushehr will be launched this summer.
