Officials Say Three Arrested Americans Worked for Secret Services

There is undeniable evidence that the trio were cooperating with foreign intelligence services active in the area.

April 09, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian intelligence officials and investigators have gathered compelling evidence that show the three supposed US hikers were in fact working for US Intelligence services active in the area.

Heydar Moslehi, Iran’s Intelligence Minister told reporters on Thursday that after conducting a through investigation over the case of the US hikers arrested inside Iran, there is undeniable evidence that the trio were cooperating with foreign intelligence services. Moslehi said he will release the information to media community soon.

According to US officials the three close friends had traveled halfway around the world to a war-torn country like the Iraqi Kurdistan simply to enjoy the scenic beauty of the area close to the Iranian border. Normally, border regions even in some of the most peaceful regions in the world could be considered as the no man zone.

In this case the trio not only traveled to a highly dangerous country, but they also started hiking along the border with Iran that eventually ended up near the town of Marivan inside Iran. Shane Bauer, Joshua felix Fattal and Sarah Emily were consequently arrested at a border crossing check point near Malakh-Khur on July 31 last year.

Also Tehran’s chief prosecutor Abbas Jafari-Dolatabadi said the three US citizens were on a mission to carryout acts of espionage and will be tried in an Iranian court soon.
