Iran Lodged a Formal Complaint to the UN

The US continues to illegitimately threaten to use nuclear weapons on a non-nuclear weapon state.

Tehran, April 04, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iran lodged a formal complaint to the UN for what it says is a blatant violation of the international use to strike a non-nuclear armed country with nuclear weapons.

Last week in a speech the US president singled Iran and North Korea as two countries excluded from supposedly new limits on the use of nuclear weapons by the US. The reason behind this decision is a fictional line that assumes Iran and North Korea, both violated the NPT rules by conducting nuclear weapon programs secretly.

In a letter sent to the UN, Iran said, ‘Such remarks by the U.S. officials display once again the reliance of the U.S. government on (a) militarized approach to various issues, to which the threats of use of nuclear weapons are not a solution at all.’

Iranian ambassador to the UN Mohammad Khazaee told the UN that the United States is the only country in history that has used nuclear weapons against Japan in WWII and it continues to illegitimately threaten to use nuclear weapons on a non-nuclear weapon state.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Khazaee told the UN agency US’ threats were tantamount to nuclear blackmail against a non-nuclear weapon state and breached U.S. obligations under the U.N. charter to refrain from the threat or use of force.
