Chavez Dismissed US Allegations on Iranian Troops Presence in Venezuela

Tell me this isn’t an open threat by the US government against Venezuela once again using falsifications and lies: Hugo Chavez.

April 27, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Monday, dismissed recent US allegations that Iranian special forces have an increasing presence-influence in his Latin American nation.

Chavez dismissed as absolutely false a US report by the Pentagon in early April alleging the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps’ elite Qods force is participating in some security operations in South America particularly in Venezuela.  The report also conveyed the US anxiety over the growing ties between Latin America and Iran in general.

On a televised speech the Venezuelan President said, ‘Look at what they are saying, they’re saying that if the US applies sanctions to Iran, these forces that are here - something that’s absolutely false – could attack US territory or interests through terrorist acts.’

Chavez added, ‘Tell me this isn’t an open threat by the US government against Venezuela once again using falsifications and lies.’

Like Iran, Venezuela is a highly rich oil country and it has been at loggerheads with Washington for its independent policies regarding the Latin American country’s own national interests.
