Circumventing NPT rules since 1950’s, Western countries including France, the United Kingdom and the United States amongst others secretly helped the Israeli regime to manufacture nuclear weapons.

 

Tehran, May 01, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - International observers expect an increasingly isolated United States should be attending the upcoming UN nuclear conference in New York whereby 180 countries are to gather in order to draw new rules for the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

 

Contrary to Washington and its allies’ efforts to undermine the gathering, most nations will be demanding an end to double standard policies now in favor of an exclusive club of nuclear weapons states.

 

One the most important speakers of the conference is Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad whose speech will be watched by billions of people around the world in the opening day on Monday.

 

The US Secretary of State is scheduled a speech later in the afternoon. Hillary Clinton, earlier warned the Iranian President against trying to divert the main topic of discussion at the conference, which according to US officials is to solely concentrate on a non-proliferation regime and spread of WMD’s.

 

Meanwhile, the world believes that implementing double-standard nuclear policies as in the case of Israel, which is not a member of the NPT, but is known to have large stockpiles of nuclear weapons somewhere in its tiny territory, does not make sense when all other states should follow new or old NPT safeguards.

 

The US hopes it could divert world’s public opinion on Israel’s illegal possession of nuclear weapons. According to some, the new NPT rules should not make a huge difference unless Israel quickly dismantles its nuclear stockpiles and accept the international regulations set forth by the NPT.
