Kyrgyz Authorities to Investigate Illegal Jet Fuel Supply to US Army at Manas

Ousted Kyrgyz President's Son was the Man That Supplied Illegally Imported Jet Fuel for the US Army Base at Manas:  Kyrgyz Transitional Authorities.

May 01, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Kyrgyz new transitional government has decided to launch a criminal investigation over a fraudulent activity that involved several former government officials for supplying illegally imported jet fuels to American rented airbase at Manas, RIA Novosti reported on Friday.

US army leased the large Manas airbase to stage aerial strikes and transport troops against the Taliban in Afghanistan. Many of US air strikes  have killed innocent civilians, women and children in Afghanistan so far. The imported jet fuel came from Russia and passed through the border without payment of an import duty.

The man who committed the embezzlement was Maxim Bakayev, one of the ousted president’s sons. Maxim Bakayev imported 1.8 million tons of jet fuel from Russia through phony Kyrgyz firms and a London-Gibraltar registered company by the name of Star Enterprise and Mina Corp Ltd.

Kyrgyz authorities suspect some Americans had also taken part in this scheme, which if true could cause another widespread anger throughout Kyrgyzstan against US’ presence.

The ousted Kyrgyz president Kurmanbek Bakiyev was an ally of Washington, who during his term brought ruin to six million inhabitants of this Central Asian republic. During Bakayev’s reign massive corruption had taken place which eventually led to widespread social discords amongst the Kyrgyz people.
