The world is anxious to hear how Western countries including the US, France and the UK helped Israel build nuclear weapons contrary to NPT safeguards.

 

Tehran, May 02, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - The US body in charge of visa issuance has finally issued a last minute visa to Iranian delegation attending Monday’s UN nuclear conference in New York.

 

Internationally, the US government is obligated to furnish visas to UN members diplomatic personnel attending its assemblies. Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki warned Washington over trying to take the UN as a hostage against the rest of the world. Iran’s FM spokesman Ramin Mihman-Parast also said, ‘Issuing visas for officials from different countries to participate in UN assemblies is an obligation for US authorities not a prerogative.’

 

According to the spokesman some people are concerned that Iran might bring up certain issues regarding disarmament, regarding the commitment of countries to the NPT -- things that have not been done by those countries possessing nuclear weapons. They are afraid we might raise such issues.

 

The Iranian President is to deliver a speech during the first day of a month-long conference. People around the world anxiously wait to hear how some Western countries including the US, France and the UK helped Israel build nuclear weapons contrary to NPT safeguards. No doubt, at the UN conference this same Western group of countries that have come up victorious from the ashes of WWII would be telling the global community that they must follow NPT safeguards.

 

The United States, France and the UK provided nuclear arms to tiny Israel so it could play the role of a strong police officer better, always on tap to enforce law and order in the ancient Middle East, thereby Western industrial nations could have an easy access to oil and gas from the region.

 

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressed this issue during Tehran’s nuclear conference in April, saying, ‘The Zionist regime which has over 200 nuclear warheads and has waged several wars in the region is fully supported by Washington and its allies, this is while other states are prevented from making peaceful use of nuclear energy.’

 

The United Nations Headquarter is located in New York. The city itself has lost a great chunk of its former glory as a tourist destination for most people from around the world. Rampant crime, homicide, homosexuality, unemployment, corruption, pollution and homelessness have become synonymous with many large US cities particularly New York. Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, many world travelers avoid flying to US despite government's offer of cash incentives.
