If Chomsky wanted to enter Israel he should try using one of the underground tunnels connecting Gaza and Egypt: Israeli M.P. May 17, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Ne) - Leading international scholar and linguist Noam Chomsky was denied entry to Israel on Saturday. Chomsky planned to speak at Bir Zeit University in the West bank on Monday. He was told to go back as he tried to enter the West Bank only and not Israel itself. Apparently one the reasons he was denied a temporary entry was because of his views on Israeli policies. According to Chomsky border guard told him the Israeli government doesn’t like the kind of things he says. Chomsky responded by saying as far as he knows no government likes anything he says. Chomsky who is also Jewish, lived in Israeli Kibbutz back in the 50’s and delivered numerous speeches over the years. MIT professor Chomsky has been a staunch opponent of Israeli policies. In the West Bank a Palestinian MP criticized Israel’s banning of Chomsky’s entry calling the action as a clear suppression of freedom of expression. An Israeli MP Otinel Schneller, on the other hand praised the move and jokingly suggested that if Chomsky wanted to enter Israel he should try using one of the underground tunnels connecting Gaza and Egypt.
