In case the provisions of this Declaration are not respected, Turkey, upon the request of Iran, will return swiftly and unconditionally Iran's LEU to Iran. May 18, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Ne) - Iran’s nuclear swap deal brokered by Turkey and Brazil brought a new life to this long-stagnated issue concerning Iran’s nuclear enrichment program. On the sideline of the Group of 15 meeting in Tehran, Brazilian and Turkish Foreign Minister brokered a nuclear swap contract in which Tehran agreed to ship 1200 kg of LEU to Turkey in return for 120 kg of higher enriched uranium for use at Tehran nuclear reactor. The following is the agreement reached in Tehran yesterday. 1. We reaffirm our commitment to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and in accordance with the related articles of the NPT, recall the right of all state parties, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, to develop research, production and use of nuclear energy (as well as nuclear fuel cycle including enrichment activities) for peaceful purposes without discrimination.
