The U.S. anti-missile activity in Poland is unjustified and causes our concern: Russia. May 22, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - On Friday, Polish Defense Minister Bogdan klich announced US Patriot missiles and troops would arrive within the next few days. He said Poland was prepared to house the missile batteries at a location near the border with Russian Kaliningrad enclave. These controversial missile batteries will be stationed at Morag military base about 60 km from Kaliningrad. 100 US troops would train Polish soldiers to use the equipment including radar system and surface-to-air missiles. Last January, Poland and the US finalized the deployment of this system on Polish soil and they claim its purpose is to prevent incoming missiles from countries like Iran, Pakistan or India against Europe. Such an irrelevant claim did not prevent Russia to correctly decipher the real reason for deployment of Patriot system in Poland. Moscow has discovered that the hidden secret behind this move is to surround the Russian territory by setting up NATO-run military bases. In the near future similar systems would also be deployed in Czech Republic and perhaps Hungary. A Russian foreign ministry spokesman said last month that Russia is concerned about the U.S. anti-missile activity in the Polish territory and the planned deployment of the Patriot anti- aircraft missiles near its border. ‘The U.S. anti-missile activity in Poland is unjustified and causes our concern,’ said the spokesman.
