South Korea Takes Retaliatory Measure Against Pyongyang |

Nuclear-armed North Korea however denied any role in that attack saying its military might isn’t directed toward missions of that nature. May 24, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - South Korea says it holds Pyongyang responsible for a March 26 torpedo attack on its warship Cheonan in which 46 South Korean sailors were killed. Seoul announced from now on it would exercise strong retaliatory measures against the North if any further violations takes place. South Korea is backed by US and Japan in its standoff against socialist North Korea. South Korea has access to much of its needed row material particularly oil by being a member of US-led economic and ideological model since the end of Korean War. Seoul announced it is suspending economic ties with North Korea as punishment for the attack, after its investigators claimed a North Korean torpedo sank the warship. ‘From now on, (South) Korea will not tolerate any provocative act by the North and will maintain the principle of proactive deterrence,’ South Korean President Lee Myung-bak said. Nuclear-armed North Korea however denied any role in that attack saying its military might isn’t directed toward missions of that nature. Unable to address their growing economic problems at home, oil-dependent capital-based industrialized economies such as South Korea, US and Japan generally blame others for deterioration of overall conditions. Last week Pyongyang said it wouldn’t tolerate South Korean puppet regime to take advantage of this situation by promising an all-out war as a last resort. Analysts believe North Korean military possesses the conventional capability to decimate South Korea’s capital city Seoul within a short period due to its proximity to border line known as DMZ between the two countries.
