The agreement clearly prevents both parties from deployment of any permanent station near each other borders.

May 30, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko reminded the Americans its missile deployment in Poland stands in violation of mutual agreement between Russia and NATO signed in 1997.

 

The Russian Official said,’ There are no reasons that could justify the deployment of the missiles near Russian borders, the agreement clearly prevents both parties from deployment of any permanent station near each other borders.’

United States maintains Patriot missile batteries in Eastern Europe are to prevent missile attacks from other countries against Europe. On Monday, Polish officials welcomed deployment of Patriot system in Poland close to the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad.

 

Patriot system along with 100 US troops will be stationed at Morag base 60 km from Kaliningrad. Russia has repeatedly demanded a plausible explanation from Washington as to the purpose of its missile deployment in Poland.

 

US-led NATO military stations now effectively surround the vast Russian territory.
