June 07, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - In a last ditch attempt Israeli officials accused last week humanitarian convoy of harboring at least five well-known terrorists.

A statement by the Israeli security apparatus issued on Sunday, said five active terrorists with links to Al-Qaeda and Hamas were onboard the ships when commandos reached the boats last Monday. Israel officials showed no evidence that supported the latest claims. A statement by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said on Sunday, 'the five were 'active terror operatives' with links to groups such as al-Qaeda and Hamas and had been on board the convoy attacked by Israeli commandos last Monday.'

In Tel-Aviv government refuses to allow an independent team under UN to carryout investigation about the incident. Even the Obama administration is asking Israelis to accept an open investigation on this case. Israel is afraid the fact-finding mission would accuse Tel-Aviv of murder and piracy as described by top Turkish officials and many other leading political figures around the world.

It seems Israel simply cannot allow any true investigations because the outcome is more than clear. In an unjustifiable course of action, trigger-happy and cowardly troops of the IDF attacked civilian flotilla in the middle of the night from the sea and from the air. Heavily armed soldiers then attacked half-asleep half-awake activists. There were some skirmishes when several courageous activists perhaps not knowing what was going on tried to defend themselves as a final attempt to save their lives which is a very natural reflex when someone feels danger.

Israeli troops had actually crossed the international maritime borders, that’s they broke straight into somebody else’s property exactly as what pirates or bandits do. It’s not clear why IDF could not wait for the flotilla to reach the territorial waters before moving on those ships so they could at minimum claim an intrusion took place.. Israeli commandos ended up shooting  9 young and old activists form very close range with many bullet wounds showing on the victims.

Activist accused of being terrorists brushed aside Israeli charges. British-American citizen Ken O’keefe was named a terrorist by Israeli statement. He said the Israeli accusations were absolutely false because if they insist having information on those terrorists why they freed the five terrorists he included? Ironically, 24 hours in advance, the six-ship flotilla offered the Israelis to come and check all they like to see if there’s any unwanted people or weapons on board. Therefore, if there were terrorists among the activists and Israeli knew it or suspected it, then why IDF didn't solve the problem right away?
