Iran to Announce Further Nuclear Progresses

Iran will unveil a new advance in its nuclear program in the coming months, the head of its Atomic Energy Organization announced.

Tehran, June 13, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iran’s head of Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi told reporters despite the passing of anti-Iran resolution at the UNSC, the country’s nuclear program shall continue unabated.

He said within the next few months more news of achievements in the nuclear program would be made public. ‘In the next few months Iran will announce a new nuclear achievement in connection to the production of fuel for its Tehran research reactor,’ Salehi said in an interview with Resalat daily newspaper.

The country’s atomic program specialists began enriching uranium to higher degrees several months ago. Once the process is completed nuclear fuel rods would be assembled at Isfahan nuclear facility using zirconium casings for final assembly at a medical reactor in Tehran. Some western countries expressed doubts on Iran’s ability to manufacture zirconium plates, but Iranian technicians have shown that they have already completely mastered this engineering feat.

Meanwhile in Tehran MPs are trying to review relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The bill could place additional restrictions on IAEA or just allow limited access to inspectors from the agency. Ali Akbar Salehi however said the country would continue to cooperate with the IAEA within the safeguard agreements.
