Two of the IAEA inspectors had been declared persona non-grata due to their untruthfulness while conducting inspections on the Iranian nuclear program.
Tehran, June 21, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iran announced it would from now on refuse entry for two of the IAEA inspectors because of their bias reports, Reuters reported on Monday.
These two individuals were involved in putting together a fictitious report about the Iranian nuclear program that was later referenced by the UNSC for reaching a conclusion against Iran. Over the years, US and Western powers influences at the IAEA have transformed this supposedly independent agency as a tool in the hands of Washington and allies for conducting clandestine activities against other countries' legitimate nuclear programs.
The head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi said these two inspectors had been declared persona non-grata due to their untruthfulness while conducting inspections on the Iranian nuclear program. ‘Their report was utterly untruthful and ... we asked that they would not ever send these two inspectors to Iran and instead assign two others,’ Salehi said. Also according to Salehi no one should doubt Iran’s ability to produce needed medical radioisotopes on its own, adding that constructing a research reactor similar to one currently operating in Tehran is a simple task for Iranian scientists and technicians. Tehran’s small 5 megawatts reactor was supplied by the United States before the 1979 revolution in Iran. ‘We have been working on the design needed for a new reactor similar to the Tehran reactor for last few months, this reactor is a simple pool-type reactor (swimming pool reactor) in which radiomedicine is produced after loading up the fuel plates.’ He said plans are underway to complete a 20 megawatts reactor similar to Tehran reactor within the next three years.
