Obama and his allies in the administration might be using McChrystal as a scapegoat thus ready to blame him for all their failures in Afghanistan. June 23, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Top US Army commander in Afghanistan Gen. Stanley McChrystal has been summoned to the White House in order to explain his recent negative comments about Obama administration officials. The commander in charge of Afghan war campaign is considered a staunch proponent of all-out use of force against the Taliban. He is blaming some of the administration officials including the Vice President Joe Biden for their soft approach about the war, which he believes to be the main reason behind US defeats in Afghanistan. Earlier US Army announced it was preparing for a major offensive on Taliban stronghold in Kandahar after its supposed successful operation to control Marjah several months ago. The Marjah offensive turned out to be hoax to show the American taxpayers that their money is being spent promptly. Before the offensive, US army said its plan was to take control of a supposedly large city of over 400,000 inhabitants etc. Later it was discovered that Marjah wasn’t a city but a large agricultural area consisting of many villages where local population live out of small-scale farming. The US military has postponed its Kandahar offensive until it receives additional funds from the US Congress. Obama is asking for another $50 billion in addition to several hundred billions he had already allocated for that purpose . Due to the ongoing economic crisis and further troubles caused by the oil spill around the Gulf of Mexico, US Congress is very much reluctant to supply additional funds for a war that seems to be going nowhere. There are signs that US military machine is grinding to a halt while the Obama administration refuses to admit the terrible situation on the ground. Analysts believe Obama and his allies in the administration might be using McChrystal as a scapegoat thus ready to blame him for all their failures in Afghanistan.
