Iran has now officially reached the so-called Point of No Return. Tehran, July 07, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iran’s nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi today announced the opening of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in the next two months, IRNA reported. Salehi said the final test involving the steam tests were carried out successfully and thereby the plant would be ready for inauguration in September. ‘Today we passed one of the most important and final test, the hot water tests, of Bushehr power plant before its inauguration, after 37 years, grounds have been prepared for the plant's opening,” Salehi said. The 1000 megawatts nuclear power plant has been under construction for decades as the initial contractor German company failed to complete the project. Russian contractors took over the project but have faced repeated delays ever since. According to Iran’s Head of Atomic Energy Organization, the country has officially reached the so-called point of no return, a term usually referred to situation when a country has completely mastered all aspects of the nuclear technology and therefore it is not possible to stop it from further development. ‘We have reached the point of no return. Grounds are prepared for the final opening of the reactor,’ he stressed. United States and its western allies whose dwindling industrial economies are dependent on abundant supply of inexpensive oil have tried in vain to pressure the Middle Eastern country from pursuing a nuclear path. However their combined efforts led to strengthening of Iran’s ambition to pursue its peaceful nuclear program without hindrance.
