Tehran, July 27, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Top Iranian army commander said on Monday the Iranian armed forces are fully prepared to repel any surprise attacks by the enemies.

Iran’s Armed Forces Deputy Chief of Staff for Cultural Affairs and Defense Publicity, Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri told Fars News Agency on Monday, the armed forces are quite ready to defend and safeguard the country’s border.  ‘The enemy has devised many scenarios but it is unable to successfully implement them. Iran, too, has drawn precise plans for confronting possible threats,’ said Jazayeri in an interview with FNA.

According to Jazayeri, Iran’s strategic depth stretches deep into the United States of America.  ‘The enemy is well aware of Iran's military and political power and strength and is informed of our strategic depth to some extent. Therefore, it is not able to wage a hasty action against the Islamic Republic,’ Jazayeri stated.

Last week the US congress reiterated support for a possible Israeli air strike on Iranian nuclear installation, a move regarded as a mere propaganda piece by Iranian officials. Jazayeri told FNA that recent war rhetoric against Iran is just a political bluff by the Zionists and American hawks. He said the US and Israel do not have sufficient, high-enough economic and military capacities to launch a preemptive strike on Iran.

The US and Israeli duo, want the world to believe that a supposed aerial strike on Iranian nuclear facilities would cause major damage to oil-rich Middle Eastern country’s peaceful nuclear program. But given the depth and breadth of Iranian nuclear program, such a course of action would lead to further strengthening of the program within a short period.
