If the United States cannot find a way of recognizing and accepting China's entrance on the world stage as a big player, relations will swerve up and down like a roller coaster: People's Daily. July 29, 2010 (Hamsayeh.net) - China’s major state newspaper People’s Daily published a commentary this morning blaming Washington for raising friction and instability in the region by avoiding to recognize China as a global player. People’s Daily, China’s official Communist Party newspaper, said the United States keeps forgetting that China today is a major global power that plays major roles on international scene. It said China disliked US unwarranted interference in territorial dispute in the South China Sea. Since last year, the US has tried to put pressure on China on several occasions including signing up of a separate military contract with Taiwan -- an Island long-recognized as an integral part of China, the human rights situation in China, lack of Internet freedom and lately participating in a massive joint military drill near China. The US also keeps demanding a rise to the value of Chinese currency the yuan based on the assumption that it should help balance a giant trade deficit with Beijing. ‘If the United States cannot find a way of recognizing and accepting China's entrance on the world stage as a big player, relations will swerve up and down like a roller coaster,’ People’s Daily wrote in its commentary, adding, ‘This instability in relations will have a negative effect not only on bilateral ties but on the world, and that is not something anyone wants to see.’ ‘The state of Sino-U.S. relations directly impacts upon or even decides global peace and stability, especially in the Asia-Pacific region ... Future ties to a large degree hinge upon whether Washington can control its 'impulses.’ The commentary said. The United States, relentlessly, pursuits the policy of harnessing China’s rapid economic, social and political influence on the world stage. One of Washington’s trump cards is to cut-off China from its direct access to global energy outlets from around the world. The Obama administration and other US administration before it, worked hard to see China only accessed its growing energy requirements through western corporations particularly those from the United States as intermediaries. The US increasingly see itself playing the role of a go-between in international matters following the illegal Iraqi invasion. Under such a scenario the US would be able to keep printing dollar out of thin air and letting other countries use them in trades.
