Beijing would be quite ready to demonstrate its military strength aside from delivering diplomatic speeches. If the bottom line were to be crossed, then China would firmly react. July 30, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - A top Chinese Military commander speaking on CCTV program on Thursday, said China is paying close attention to changing situation in South China Sea at the time of a joint US-South Korea military drill near its maritime limits. Chief of General Staff of the People’s Liberation Army Chen Bingade said the military must pay closer attention to changes in the situation and tasks as well as getting prepared for military conflicts. Washington - Seoul plan to stage a joint military drill every month until the end of this year. Immediately after the end of drill on Wednesday, China launched own maneuvers involving live ammunitions including various types of missiles. ‘It is one of the drills in China's naval history that involved comprehensive cooperation and included the launch of many missiles," the report by CCTV said. Both the US and S. Koreans claim that a North Korean torpedo struck the South Korean vessel Cheonan on May 31. New evidence gathered by Russian specialists however defies such claim by proving that a sea mine explosion caused the Cheonan incident. The latest findings by Russian specialists should lead to future large-scale embarrassments for both the Obama and the Lee Myung bak administrations. US-S. Korean joint military drills were scheduled to take place in the Yellow Sea near ROK maritime border. But, US and S. Korean armies fearing China’s wrath had decided to move further away from the area to the other side called the East Sea. A leading researcher at China’s navy academy, Li Jie, told China Daily that Beijing would be quite ready to demonstrate its military strength aside from delivering diplomatic speeches. ‘If the bottom line were to be crossed, then China would firmly react," Li said. US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, last Friday criticized China on its overlapping territorial claims in the South China Sea against other regional countries. In response, China’s Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said Clinton’s comments constitute an attack on China. Analysts believe, the United States has plans to raise tensions in various spots around the world within the coming months. Increasing tensions could perhaps help US retain dollar’s position in international transactions, despite its inherent weaknesses as a result of printing trillions of un-supported paper money over the past several decades.
