Sarah Shroud would be released firstly because of Islamic compassion and secondly due to government’s special regard for woman. September 10, 2010 9Hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian officials say they are about to release one of the three Americans currently detained in Iran after their illegal border crossing from Iraq, where tens of thousands of US Army soldiers and private contractors continue to occupy the oil-rich country despite a so called end of operation announcement by US President two weeks ago. ‘Given that Eid al-Fitr is upon us, it was decided that this lady (Sarah Emily Shourd) be released soon to rejoin with her family,’ Iran’s Press TV reported Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying on Friday. The spokesman Ramin Mihmanparast said Sarah Shroud would be released firstly because of Islamic compassion and secondly due to government’s special regard for woman. Apparently from a medical perspective Sarah Shroud has been having some medical problems even prior to her detention on border crossing. Three Americans Joshua Fattal, Sarah Shroud and Shane Bauer were charged with illegal entry into Iran through Iraqi Kurdistan region. Iranian authorities said they would be tried for espionage despite US claims that the three were ordinary hikers on a routine hiking expedition in Iraqi Kurdistan. Thousands of private security contractors and US troops continue to occupy Iraq since the former US administration attacked Saddam Hussein’s regime in 2003 for an alleged WMD program that turned out to be non-existent.
