September 13, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - The recent media furor over burning Quran by Florida pastor Terry Jones, has triggered widespread condemnations across the Islamic world and also other countries. In Iran top officials expressed astonishments at US pastor for conducting such a despicable act of burning Islam’s holy Quran.  

This morning Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in a meeting with his Malawian counterpart Etta Banda, said, ‘Quran-burning project was a brazen, divisive, Zionists-backed scheme. Adding, ‘The stance of the Muslim world and the Islamic Republic of Iran on this heinous and sacrilegious act is clear. We see the Zionists’ hands behind this insulting act,’ as quoted by Iran’s Fars News Agency, Monday. 

Under pressure from US government officials including Obama himself, the Florida based pastor had cancelled his planned desecration of burning Qurans. He nevertheless received global media attention for this appalling act.  

Also today in Tehran, an Iranian lawmaker said the Quran burning plan by pastor Terry Jones shows that it was orchestrated by the Zionists. According to Mohammad Dehghan, Parliament’s presiding board member in a report by Fars News Agency said, ‘Whenever Zionists want to cover up their atrocities in Palestine, they try to trigger anti-Islamic sentiments across the United States and the West to deflect global public attention from their brutalities against Palestinians.’ 

Dehghan, further pointed to the fact that Zionists work hard to portray a negative picture of Islam in order to discourage members of other faiths from converting to Islam. He urged the Muslims to be vigilant against Zionists’ propaganda.
