Iran Releases Sarah Shourd on Bail

  

Female American detainee, Sarah Shourd, was finally released on a $500,000 bail on Sunday. Two other Americans still in Iran face court proceedings in the future.

September 15, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iran judiciary finally released Sarah Shourd on bail of $500,000, Sunday. Tehran prosecutor Abbass Jafar Dolatabadi said after receiving necessary guarantee from a third country for a bail amount of $500,000 the female American detainee was released.

Sarah Shourd had spent over one year in detention following her arrest along with two other Americans across border from Iraqi Kurdistan. The trio said that they were hiking at the time when got lost in the unfamiliar area.  

Two other Americans Shane Bauer 27 and Joshua Fattal 27, are currently in detentions undergoing final assessment of their case which according to official records amount to spying for other countries. Iranian judicial officials have been investigating their cases and announced that the three Americans would stand trial in an Iranian court in near future.  

Iranian Foreign Minster had already said the Americans were having suspicious intentions at the time of their arrest near the town of Marivan in Iranian Kurdistan close to Iraqi border. He said they would be tried soon at an Iranian court once investigation surrounding this case has been completed.
