Under current threatening conditions when the US and Israel are daily beating on their war drums, it would not be an exaggeration to say that we are on the verge of a potential war in the [near] future: Top IRGC Commander. Tehran, September 19, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - A senior Iranian military official says there exist a possible US-led war against Iran sometime in the near future and for this reason the country’s armed forces must be in high state of readiness to fend off any aggressor. Deputy Commander of the IRGC, Major General Gholamali Rashid, said a US-led warmongering against Iran should not be taken lightly since ‘daily beating of war drums’ have in the past led to aggression against other countries in our region including on Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and Gaza. ‘Under current threatening conditions when the US and Israel are daily beating on their war drums, it would not be an exaggeration to say that we are on the verge of a potential war in the [near] future.’ Iran’s Press TV reported Gen. Rashid as saying. Faced with a systemic crisis that seem to have worked since the end of WWII until 2008, the US and its smaller ally the Zionist regime, have increased their threats of attacking Iran for its alleged nuclear weapons program, which Iran insists is only peaceful. The IRGC commander also said Iran’s Armed Forces have full capabilities to ward off the enemy but reminded that the US would not risk an all out war with Iran, particularly not when it comes to launching a ground offensive. ‘They are militarily incapable of waging a ground war against Iran,’ emphasized Gen. Rashid.
