Independent states enjoy untapped potentials in various fields and once those are flourished they could ultimately conquer modern imperialism. Tehran, October 19, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez arrived in Tehran this morning for an official visit and was welcomed by his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinajad at Tehran International Airport. The two presidents held official talks and later attended a joint press conference. During the meeting Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, ‘the global imperialism and the hegemonic powers have mobilized their facilities against independent nations,’ as reported by IRNA. He also praised Venezuela’s stance on illegal UNSC sanctions against Iran, calling it a brotherly stand taken by the Latin American nation. For his part, Chavez said his country looks toward expansion of cooperation with Iran as a ‘sacred issue’, adding that independent states enjoy untapped potentials in various fields and once those are flourished they could ultimately conquer modern imperialism. This is the Hugo Chavez’s 9th official visit to Iran since taking office in 1999 and beginning of sweeping reforms in his oil-rich Latin American nation. Venezuela under Chavez administration and other Latin American nations have successfully implemented a new regional economic and political alliance called ALBA. The ALBA group of countries seeks alternative socio-economic cooperation amongst regional states without outside interference. Hugo Chavez was accompanied by an eco-political delegation for a two-day official visit. Iran and Venezuela enjoy growing cooperation in the fields of energy, telecommunication and commerce.
