Bombs dropped on a school in a remote village in southern Afghanistan
Dec. 28, 09 (Hamsayeh.Net) - In Afghanistan another coalition air bombing killed more than 10 people among them 8 school children, Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s office announced this morning.
The air strike occurred on a village in a mountainous region in Kunar province very close to Pakistani border. 'The area is a Taliban strong hold and it is very rugged,' said the state governor Fazlullah Wahedi. The report didn’t say which country’s air force killed the school children but it is assumed US warplanes delivered the attacks. ‘Elders of the village have told us that 10 people have been killed in this air strike, eight of them school students,’ the governor said.
Both US and NATO forces regularly conduct mistaken air strikes on villages that result in killing many school children in most brutal ways imaginable. Such actions have made Afghan people extremely angry at the presence of foreign troops on their soil. Their anger persuades them to join the Taliban for fight against their common enemies.
Hamid Karzai again condemned the killings of innocent people, but it seems he is unable to pressure US and NATO forces to stop these kinds of brutalities that run contrary to international conventions.
