Pakistani Taliban Claims Responsibility For CIA Base Bombing

A Former CIA informant Carried Out the Attack

Jan. 02, 10 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Pakistani based Taliban group said it used an undercover CIA agent to deliver and detonated a bomb to the base Chapman killing 8 experienced CIA agents on Thursday in Khost Province southeastern Afghanistan.

Two of those killed were private agents for a security firm called Xe, known formerly as Blackwater a security company involved in Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan wars. Taliban said, the CIA agent contacted them and offered his services. Later he was sent to the area and courted into the camp as a CIA informant without being searched.

It was meant as a revenge for the death of a top military leader by a US missile strike, Taliban said. A US official vowed the US will avenge the latest bombing. ‘This will be avenged through aggressive counter terror operations, there are some very bad people who eventually are going to have a very bad day,’ he said. CIA agents’ main mission in Afghanistan is to search and hunt down important Al Qaeda and Taliban figures.

In the past, information by these CIA agents led to the killings of some of the Al qaeda and Haqqani members. The main functions of the CIA operating bases in Afghanistan are to recruit informants, plan and coordinate covert operation including drone surveillance and targeting missions.

Some local Afghans criticize the US government for bringing so many troops to Afghanistan destroying homes, killing people and creating poverty for the population. They say the US has done very little in the way of construction and development projects in Afghanistan.
