Iran Dismissed Petraeus' Remarks | |||
Officials Denied Reports About Nuclear Suspension
Tehran, Jan. 12, 10 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman dismissed the latest warning by US’ top military official David Petraeus on devising a series of contingency plans that could possibly diminish dangers posed by the Iranian peaceful nuclear program.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Ramin Mihman-Parast in his weekly press conference rejected the allegations and threats made by the US official against Iran’s nuclear program. ‘He has made thoughtless comments and it is better that any statement made in this regard take a constructive approach,’ IRNA quoted Mihman-Parast as saying.
‘It seems that some effort is being made to amplify the voice of the US militaries and extremist Republicans, who have always favored war, conflict and tension in different parts of the world, to outrival the other voices and reach the ears of the audience in louder words,’ Mehman-Parast said as quoted by the Fars News Agency.
Iran has been an outstanding member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and international investigators have confirmed Tehran’s nuclear transparency time and time again.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman also rejected a recent report by the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz about Iran's temporary suspension of its nuclear program as a gesture of goodwill towards the West. ‘From our viewpoint, these newspapers and information-dissemination sources are not creditable and there is no audience for such fabrication of news and purposeful mistakes in Iran,’ Mehman-Parast told FNA.
Earlier, Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Shirzad told reporters that Iran’s nuclear activities continue and there has been no suspension as far the peaceful nuclear program is concerned.
