Clinton Cites Ineffectiveness of Sanctions | |||
Sanctions Would Strengthen Unity amongst Iranians From Every Faction Source: IRIB - January 13, 2010
US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, seemed delirious in her talk with reporters Monday evening in Washington when she repeated the failed threats of more of those illegal sanctions against Iran for continuing its peaceful nuclear activities.
She said that William J. Burns, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, is to fly to Europe, where he will try to convince European as well as Russian officials in this regard. This is while, political analysts predicted that the new round of talks among members of the so-called 5+1 Group that groups Germany with the 5 self-imposed permanent member of the UN Security Council, that is the dangerously nuclear-armed UK, France, Britain, Russia, and China, will shed more light on the rift among these countries vis-à-vis Iran's peaceful nuclear program.
China's envoy to the United Nations, Zhang Yesui, whose country is the rotating chairman of the UN Security Council, underlined diplomatic efforts to defuse the crisis created by the West over Iran's peaceful nuclear activities. As is clear, the US is pursuing a defeatist policy, without the least affect on Iran.
It is worth noting that US President Barack Obama who before his entry to the White House had on several times admitted that his predecessors had adopted wrong policies not only toward Iran, but regarding the entire region, is now tamely toeing those very same policies despite his slogan of 'change'.
The White House has resorted to a series of wild accusations and unfounded claims against the Islamic Republic of Iran, thereby losing chances in the international domain to make amends for blunders of the United States. Washington's irrational approach has t the same time deprived American firms to enjoy lucrative contracts in Iran. It is now clear to all that the US itself has been the main loser because of is unilaterally imposed sanctions on foreign companies investing more than 20 million dollars in Iran's giant oil industry.
In view of these facts, the so-called sanctions have only strengthened the Iranian resolve to move forward from strength to strength to the detriment of the US.
