Devastated Haiti Struggles Against Time

Haitian Official say Over 50,000 Killed by the Quake

Jan.15, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Haitian population continue struggle to receive international aids two days after the devastating seven degrees magnitude earthquake that hit the island on Tuesday.

International aid is extremely slow to arrive in devastated areas of Port Principe, Haiti’s capital city. There are still thousands of people trapped under tons of demolished concrete buildings and tens of thousands more of city’s inhabitants stranded on the streets in the open air, many of them seriously wounded. Reports indicate the entire neighborhoods flattened by the sheer force of the earthquake.

There is shortage for food, water, rescue workers and medical staff and international assistance from around the world could hardly enter the devastated regions. This morning angry Haitians upset by repeated delays of assistance piled up dead bodies at major intersections to draw everyone’s attentions about the scale of their plight.

Haitian government issued a statement saying there is now more than 50,000 people killed by the earthquake and the number is expected to rise in next few days.
