Iran Dismissed Efforts to Twist Historical Facts about the Persian Gulf

Iran Demands release of an Iranian national held in France

Tehran, January 20, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mihman-Parast spoke to reporters at a weekly press conference in Tehran, yesterday.

The spokesman criticized some countries’ continuous campaigns to change historical facts. ‘Some actions are carried out to deny history and the United Nations, ratifications about the Persian Gulf, but these actions are not correct as they tend to provide a false identity to these countries, whereas there should be other methods that provide them with a sense of identity.’ he said in a report by Mehr News Agency.

Later in his address, Mihman-Parast demanded the immediate release of an Iranian national who is in custody in France for charges related to Iranian nuclear program for the past ten months. The FM Spokesperson said the person is absolutely innocent and reiterated, ‘ we condemn such acts and believe that these acts are carried out under political pressure.’

In response to recent remarks by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who once again threatened further economic sanctions if Tehran does not give a positive response to Western nuclear proposal, Mihman-Parast said these kinds of statements and approaches are not constructive, as they tend to become too repetitious.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman dismissed Western claims of Iran’s meddling in Iraq during the last parliamentary elections saying the Iraqi people themselves understand the motivation behind these allegations.
