It's Not Possible to Place Gasoline Embargo on Iran: Official | |||
It is now clear that whoever dominates the Middle East can rule the entire world too: Ahmadinejad
Tehran, January 30, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - An Iranian oil official told reporters that the latest threat of imposing gasoline embargo on Iran would be inefficient as Tehran has access to various other suppliers for its imported gasoline fuel.
‘If for any reason any refinery or trader should stop working with us, we can refer to other refineries and traders and receive the amount of gasoline needed,’ Hojjatollah Ghanimifard a senior oil official was quoted by FNA as saying. According to Ghanimifard, if Iran wanted to approach these available suppliers, it could do so with relative ease. ‘The excess of supply in those markets will spill over to markets that need to receive gasoline, including Iran,’ he noted.
The US plans to up economic pressures on Iran in order to make Tehran accept a nuclear fuel proposal offered in October and also for Tehran to halt its burgeoning nuclear program once for all. Washington believes Iran wants to build nuclear weapons but Tehran says it has already proven that the domestic nuclear program is only for peaceful purposes.
In a related development, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attending a local gathering in Tehran blasted the arrogant powers’ insatiable hunger for wanting to control the riches of the Middle East. ‘Those who are in the Middle East have the last word as the region is the centre of the world energy and wealth,’ he said.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the importance of Middle East should never be underestimated since other international powers have unsuccessfully tried to rule the region in the past. ’It is now clear that whoever dominates the Middle East can rule the entire world too,’ President Ahmadinejad stressed. A great majority of leading intellectuals believe, the post World War II global system based on relentless manipulation of the planet’s resources is reaching the end of its life and must soon be replaced with a more humane system that does not endanger the delicate relationship between living creatures and their natural environment.
