Iran Produces First Batch of Medical Nuclear Fuel | |||
We do not seek nuclear weapons. We are brave enough to admit it: Ahmadinejad.
Tehran, February 11, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian President mahmoud Ahmadinejad today announced the country has produced its first batch of 20 percent enriched uranium for Tehran’s medical reactor.
Only three days after the start of this complex process the Iranian engineers and technicians have been able to process nuclear fuel to the desired level. Speaking to people gathered on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution he said, ‘We have produced the first stock of 20 percent enriched uranium at the Natanz enrichment facility.’
Ahmadinejad reassured the Western countries, which suspect Iran is building nuclear weapons, that it Iran’s nuclear program is constantly under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency, adding, ‘building an atomic bomb is impossible under UN supervision. We do not seek nuclear weapons. We are brave enough to admit it.’
Western countries led by the United States seek additional sanctions against Iran in order to halt the domestic nuclear enrichment program. However, the chances of an economic sanction against Iran, similar to the one against Germany prior to the Second World War or Iraq after Persian Gulf War, to actually succeed remain extremely remote if not right out impossible. Iran enjoys unparalleled physical, geopolitical and other resources to enable it withstand an economic blockade for very long time.
Ahmadinejad during his speech pointed out the importance of Middle East in global affairs. He said Western powers global domination could be prolonged if they take over the Middle East and from their point of view Iran stands as an obstacle against their global hegemony. |
