They Should Wait and see the Results: Official
February 21, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman told reporters yesterday, the country will produce nuclear plates for Tehran medical reactor within the next four months.
Nuclear plates are used as casing shields for 20 percent enriched uranium used in the core of the small research reactor in Tehran. Mihman-parast said, ‘Those who claim that Iran is not capable of producing nuclear fuel plates should wait, because they will see the results of our work in four months.’
Iran has already constructed a Zirconium processing plant to manufacture various types of fuel rods for nuclear reactors. The technology required to manufacture Zirconium plates resembles that of manufacturing fuel rods, explained the spokesman. He brushed aside Westerners’ doubts about Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
Some years back, Western countries asserted that Iran wouldn’t be able to enrich uranium to 3.5 percent. But when Iran did in fact produced the low enriched uranium, they said the final products was useless because it was contaminated with significant amounts of impurities. Next, they said Iran is unable to raise the level of enrichment from 3.5 to 20 percent. Again they were told by the IAEA that the higher enriched uranium was actually produced by the Iranian technicians.
Ironically, despite such misconceptions, the West continues to threaten Iran with economic sanctions hoping to halt the country’s legitimate nuclear program, which is fully under IAEA supervisions. Nonetheless, Iran offered to halt the 20 percent enrichment process as soon as it receives the complete fuel package for the medical reactor from abroad.
