MP Calls on IAEA's New Director To Amend Latest Report

IAEA Conducted 35 Snap Inspections of the Iranian Nuclear Sites.

February 21, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - One of Iran’s top officials criticized IAEA’s new approach regarding the Iranian nuclear program.

The country’s Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Chairman, Alaeddin Boroujerdi said the new IAEA chief Yukio Amano should alter his latest report about the Iranian nuclear program prior to delivering it to the board of governors on March 1st.

Boroujerdi, said the IAEA under the new chief seems take a more publicized approach than his predecessor. ‘The agency’s approach… has become more politicized and the report has been written under pressure from the United States,’ Mehr News agency reported Boroujerdi as saying on Sunday.

Apparently, the latest report by Amano indicated that Iran failed to inform the agency before starting the 20 percent enrichment process, whereas Iran officially asked the agency to send inspectors for the start up of the process. Evidently, Iran officially as well as publicly announced the start of the process well in advance and the IAEA also acknowledged it earlier.

Amano’s report also says it is concerned about Iran’s ability to make nuclear bombs and the missile delivery system. This speculative report stands in contrast with all of the IAEA’s findings on Iranian nuclear program so far.  The report acknowledges outstanding cooperation by Iran saying there have been 35 snap inspections of Iran’s nuclear installations in the past three years.
