New Drones Are designed For Long-Range Flights.
February 22. 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Israel military says it is now armed with newly designed drone aircrafts, which could readily reach Iran and the Persian Gulf area. The unmanned aircrafts are called Heron TP and the larger Eitan super-drone capable of carrying 1000 kg payloads.
The military experts say the new drones are mainly for surveillance purposes but also capable of carrying out long distance missions as far away as the Persian Gulf and even Iran. The long-range aircrafts have already been used on innocent civilians during the Gaza War. Israel dropped thousands of bombs including banned phosphorous bombs on civilians in its war on Gaza in late 2008.
Tel Aviv every now and then threatens to attack Iranian nuclear targets very similar to what it did during the aerial bombardment of Osirak nuclear power plant in Iraq under the regime of Saddam Hussein.
In a latest US survey, military think tanks concluded that an Israeli sudden attack on Iran, despite their limited combat capabilities, could lead to unwanted consequences. They said even a successful strike on Iranian nuclear installations could not end the ongoing nuclear program and on the contrary it might even speed up the current pace of development.
Iran has built several heavily protected nuclear installations some of which are deep under the ground. The country plans to build additional nuclear plants in near future to expand the civilian enrichment processes. Iran is a signatory to the IAEA and its nuclear program has been found to be fully transparent by the international agency.
