Strong Radiation By the New Full Body Scanning System May be a Health Hazard.
February 22, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Today the French authorities at Charles de Gaulle airport, north of Paris, launched their first set of new full body scanners. Some airports around Europe and the United States installed the new electronic devices due to fears for more terrorist attacks.
The new scanner could see through clothes of travellers and right through the human body just like a powerful X-ray machine. Many people complain that these devices intrude on their privacy as well as could pose a major health risk by standing in front of such a high level of radiation. United States and other western countries ordered the new scanners soon after a Nigerian young man hid some explosives in his underwear on a Delta Airline flight from Amsterdam to Boston on Christmas day.
There have been rumours surrounding the incident, when some witnesses said the Nigerian man was able to take the flight without even a passport on his person. If it's true that a traveller can board an aircraft without a passport then having a full body scanner system at airports may become irrelevant. At this time, the new scanners at Charles de Gaulle perform full-body scans for travellers to US destinations only.
The Nigerian man appeared to have been a member of the Al Qaeda network. Last month, Osama Bin Laden promised to inflict more terrorist attacks against the US around the world.
The United States invaded Afghanistan almost eleven years ago in order to crush the Al Qaeda, but has so far failed to fulfil its objectives.
