The top ranking official was the US special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke: Wayne Madsen.
Tehran, February 28, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Famous Washington, D.C. based investigative journalist and reporter Wayne Madsen, has revealed the name of the high ranking US official that was to meet Jundullah group leader Abdolmalik Rigi at the Manas Airbase near Bishkek Kyrgyzistan, IRNA reported.
According to Madsen the top ranking official was the US special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke.
Earlier, captured Jundullah leader Abdolmalik Rigi clearly outlined his group’s extensive links with the CIA and other foreign entities on a nationally televised program. He (Rigi) said the CIA promised to provide logistic supports to Jundullah for waging insurgency inside Iran. Rigi also said he was told that a high ranking US official will meet him (Rigi) following his departure from Dubai, at the Manas Airbase near Bishkek, Kyrgyzistan.
Wayne Madsen says the US official mentioned by Rigi must have been Holbrooke, who was in Kyrgyzstan at the time to visit the only US Airbase in Central Asia.
The Jundullah leader said he had spoken with CIA agents in Pakistan where he was told that according to the US, the most pressing problem for Washington was Iran not Al Qaeda or Taliban and therefore CIA would provide all possible assistances to groups such as Jundullah to create disturbances for Iran.
The CIA agent told him (Rigi) that a US military attack on Iran was extremely difficult, thus the US would support anti-Iran groups capable of destabilizing the country.
Jundullah leader’s passenger aircraft, on its regular flight schedule from Dubai to Bishkek, was forced to land at the Airport in Bandar Abbas, last week, before Rigi was to meet a high ranking US official there. Rigi was subsequently arrested by the Iranian security personnel and taken into custody.
