The Sep. 11 Attack a 'Big Fabrication': Ahmadinejad

The US wanted to have a big excuse to justify own war on terrorism and create a strong foothold in energy rich regions of the Middle East.

Tehran, March 08, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Iranian President Mahmaoud Ahmadinejad in a meeting with a group of Intelligence Ministry personnel said all the evidences point to the fact that the September 11 attacks on the United States was a ‘big fabrication’ used to justify US global war on terrorism, IRNA reported.

‘The September 11 incident was a big fabrication as a pretext for the campaign against terrorism and a prelude for staging an invasion against Afghanistan,’ said Ahmadinejad. The complicated attacks in New York and other targets required overly complicated intelligence scenario and capabilities, Ahmadinejad added.

The United States says the attacks were carried out by Al-Qaeda based in Afghanistan at the time. 3000 people died following the attacks on World Trade Centre towers in New York and the Pentagon Headquarter. But some question the validity of the US claim that Al-Qaeda was behind the attacks. They say the attacks were way more complicated than one should expect to be carried out by a group like the Al-Qaeda based in Afghanistan.

Leading analysts believe the US wanted to have a big excuse to justify own war on terrorism and create a strong foothold in energy rich regions of the Middle East. This scenario would have enabled Washington a greater control over global energy flows to other parts of the world and help maintaining the value of US dollar artificially high. The US could also dictate own terms to China only through cutting off Beijing’s access to oil and gas.

The US needed a big excuse to boost presence in the oil rich regions of the Middle East and therefore cut off

China's access to energy
