North Korea's Army is On Full Alert.

 

Tehran, March 08, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Pyongyang today issued a stern warning against the ongoing joint drills by the South Korean and the US forces close to its borders. It said the North Korean Army is on full combat alert ready to ‘blow up’ South Korea when necessary.

 

‘The units of the three services of the KPA (Korean People's Army) should keep themselves fully ready to go into action in order to blow up the citadel of aggressors once the order is issued," Reuters reported the North's KCNA news agency quoted its military command as saying.

 

 Last month North Korea issued a warning that if the joint drill takes place it would declare war on the South. Pyongyang is now considered a nuclear-armed nation with about 10 nuclear warheads at its disposal. It also has one the world’s largest artillery barracks near the South Korean border within firing range of the Capital City Seoul.

 

The North could effectively wipe out the city of Seoul in just a few hours using only the artillery units along the border regions. South Korea and US conduct joint military drills several times per year in order to boost their combat readiness in the Korean Peninsula.
