Iran Begins Installing Uranium Fuel Rods Inside the Core of Bushehr Reactor

Bushehr would join the national electricity grid by early 2011: Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.

October 26, 2010 (Hamsayeh.net) - Iran begins installing uranium fuel rods inside the core of Bushehr nuclear power plant early this morning at the site of the project in the Persian Gulf port of Bushehr, FNA agency reported. 

After having successfully completed all the necessary testing including 250 bar pressure, 110 bar pressure on the second orbit, test o spherical metal casing with five load pressure as well as heat transfer test, the 1000 megawatts plant is set to begin electricity generation soon.

There are 163 fuel rods to be installed inside the reactor and it should take 7 or10 days to complete. Today, Iran’s nuclear chief, Ali Akbar Salehi, told reporters that Bushehr would join the national electricity grid by early 2011.

 

 

 

All preliminary testing carried out successfully before nuclear fuel installation.
