Tehran, August 16, 2009 (Hamsayeh.Net) - One more air accident - in a long series of such disasters occurred this morning in Shahriar county near Tehran. Today's air crash involved an IRGC helicopter used for training pilots.
There have been no reports of casualties so far. The crash took place in Shahriar county located 45 km west of the capital, Tehran. A rescue team was immediately dispatched to the location of the accident. Today's crash is the fourth fatal air crash since the past two weeks in Iran.
Yesterday, another training plane crashed near Tehran killing two, the pilot and his trainee. Some officials blame Iran’s air crash incidents on international and particularly US ban on aircraft parts to Iran. The country's dilapidated aircrafts consists mostly aged eastern and western planes that have been crashing in record numbers.
Although shortages of aircraft parts may be partly blamed for the crashes but the real causes of such incidents may have more to do with significant degree of mismanagement, lack of appropriate skills and discipline as well as rampant corruption existing at various levels inside the work culture.
